The Great British Pub Crawl: Auckland’s Most Unique Vintage Experience

There’s something magical about the hum of conversation over a pint, the glow of pub lights at dusk, and the sense of camaraderie that only comes from sharing good food, great stories, and a few laughs.
Now imagine all that — but aboard a 1960s London double-decker bus, cruising through Auckland’s best pubs with music, vintage charm, and a front-row seat to the city at golden hour.

Welcome to the Great British Pub Crawl, a signature Vintage Views experience that’s redefining what a night out in Auckland looks like.

🍺 Three Pubs, One Vintage Bus, Endless Laughs

Each Sunday, our lovingly restored Routemaster bus “Dorothy” departs from central Auckland for an unforgettable 3.5-hour experience that’s part sightseeing tour, part social adventure, and 100% fun.

Along the way, guests enjoy:
Three iconic pubs — from heritage alehouses to modern British-inspired bars
Three drinks included — classic pints, wine, or soft drinks of your choice
Shared nibbles + hearty pub dinner — because no crawl is complete without comfort food
Rolling guided commentary & music — bringing local stories and vintage flair to life
Good banter, better company, and great photo stops

This isn’t your average crawl — it’s a rolling celebration of Auckland’s culture, history, and hospitality, seen from the best seat in the city: the top deck of a true London icon.

🚍 A Vintage Bus With a Story

“Dorothy,” our beautifully restored 1964 London Routemaster, is more than transport — she’s part of the attraction. Originally serving the streets of London, she’s now part of Auckland’s skyline, offering guests a nostalgic window into both British and Kiwi heritage.

The attention to detail is what makes a Vintage Views experience stand out: polished brass, vintage seating, and that unmistakable Routemaster rumble. It’s the charm of old-school travel blended with modern comfort — and it turns every head as we roll through the city.

🍽️ A True Taste of British-Kiwi Hospitality

Our chosen pubs are destinations in their own right — local favourites like Galbraith’s Alehouse, The Brit, and Northcote Tavern — each known for character, craft beer, and great food.

Guests can expect everything from proper Sunday roasts and Yorkshire pudding sliders to craft pints poured just right. Between stops, the bus becomes a social hub — stories are shared, friendships are formed, and laughter fills the air.

🎡 The Perfect Sunday Experience in Auckland

The Great British Pub Crawl is timed perfectly for weekend relaxation — running Sundays, 4:00–7:30 pm. It’s ideal for:

  • Locals looking for something different to do in Auckland

  • Cruise passengers wanting an authentic, small-group experience off the ship

  • Couples and friends celebrating special occasions

  • Corporate groups or team socials

The route takes in some of Auckland’s most scenic areas, offering views across the harbour, inner city, and historic suburbs — all from the comfort of a double-decker with a cold drink in hand.

🧭 More Than a Tour — It’s a Movement

At Vintage Views, we believe in slow travel, authentic experiences, and celebrating heritage in motion. Our tours — from the Double Decker Discovery to the Great British Pub Crawl — offer guests a chance to reconnect with the joy of the journey itself.

As we like to say:

“Hop On Hop Off… Without the Off.”

Every Vintage Views tour is operated by a family-owned New Zealand company, part of the Kiwi Coaches family — trusted by schools, community groups, and travellers nationwide. Our mission is simple: to share the magic of our city through stories, laughter, and the open top (well, not open top 😉) of a vintage bus that makes every moment memorable.
